Danish Ports says good wind to Jonatan, Malene and Hans Arne

New challenges for Jonatan, Hans Arne and Malene. Jonatan Sandager Hansen, maternity cover for Sofie Gravers Jacobsen, has been headhunted to the Port of Elsinore, where he will be a development consultant. Malene B, student, and Hans Arne Kristiansen, special advisor, will work for Bjørn B. Christiansen at Public Affairs Group. Good luck to them all. The Port of Denmark team therefore consists of Tine Kirk Pedersen, Director, Sofie Gravers Jacobsen, Business Policy Consultant, Kasper Ullum, Environmental Consultant and Eva Fiil Nielsen, PA.

Sustainability: Esbjerg hosts green port summit

On June 6-7, Port Esbjerg will host an international workshop to make cruises greener. Under the auspices of the European Green Cruise Port program, 20 partners from nine ports, among others, will visit Esbjerg. The hope is that it will result in concrete ideas that can be implemented quickly.

6 percent more tourists to Denmark since 2012

New OECD report: OECD Tourism Trends and Policies 2018 notes a 6 percent increase in the number of tourists to Denmark between 2012 and 2016. Tourists mean jobs and growth throughout Denmark. Cruise ports are also reporting record years and more to come.

Freight revenue for 2017 - slight decrease of 1.3% since 2016

The recently published figures from Statistics Denmark show a slight decrease of 1.3% in cargo throughput at Danish ports in 2017 compared to 2016. In 2017, 94.6 million tons of goods were handled compared to 95.8 million tons in 2016. However, Ports Denmark's membership group saw a slight increase of almost 1.7% in 2017 compared to 2016.

Domestic and international ferry transport - strong increase in 2017

Over the past 5 years, the number of passengers on domestic routes has increased by almost 11%. From 2016-2017 alone, an increase of 4.6% was recorded, which corresponds to an increase of around 450,000 passengers.
