Payment Order - payment for control of feed, food, animals, etc.
The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration will increase inspection fees by 300% The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration will change the payment order so that inspection fees for imported feed and food will be increased by up to 300%. Danish Ports has submitted a consultation response to the agency, which explains the consequences of the large fee increase. Worse for the economy and the environment The change in the payment order applies to control duties on imports of feed and food from third countries into the EU. Therefore, Danish Ports argues that an increase in the control fee in Denmark will mean that Danish ports will be opted out in favor of another EU country. Not only will this mean a decline in the individual port's economy and associated jobs, it will also mean that a larger part of Denmark's feed and food consumption will be imported through a port in one of Denmark's neighboring countries, where the inspection fee is lower and then transported on trucks across the Danish border. Kasper Ullum, environmental consultant at Danish Ports, says that such a significant increase in inspection fees for feed, food and animals can have consequences for both Danish companies and ports' finances, but also for the environment as a larger proportion of transportation will now take place by truck. In its consultation response, Danish Ports has therefore expressed that the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration should reconsider such a dramatic increase in taxes.
