Press release: The winner of Danish Ports' photo competition has been found

The winner of the photo competition is Jens Nørgaard Larsen, who has taken a photo of the activities at the Port of Thyborøn. The photo from the Port of Thyborøn was one of many photos that were entered in the competition to win the Danish Ports Photo Competition on the occasion of the 100th anniversary. At the Danish Ports Conference 2018, a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place was awarded. All prize winners were revealed at the Danish Ports Conference 2018 on April 10, 2018, where the Minister of Transport, Ole Birk Olesen, presented the prizes to the three proud winners. The 1st place winner of the Danish Ports' photo competition won with the following reasoning from the panel of judges: "Skillfully composed and beautiful capture of an everyday situation that both unites the image with dynamics and appeals to the observer's curiosity. What was the catch of the day? What are they talking about? The contrast between the white fish boxes and the yellow clothing of the fishermen attracts attention and automatically links the viewer's train of thought towards the fishing industry that most of us traditionally associate with port activities. This image has been chosen as the best as it fulfills all the criteria of the competition. The image is very much centered around the function of the port, and it focuses on the people who are important to the port's operations." The other winners were chosen for the following reasons. The 2nd place, which goes to ADP - Fredericia Harbour, where Jesper Blæsild took the photo, was chosen with the following reasoning: "Very beautiful photograph - almost picturesque. Filled with atmosphere. You can almost smell the grain and feel the warmth of the sun shining through the windows and hitting the working machine that lonely keeps track of the grain. Good composition, good control of the technique. Good angle to show what happens behind the facade of the harbor."
3rd place goes to the Port of Aarhus, where harbor assistant Søren Corndrup took a picture, and was chosen with the following reasoning from the judges: "A traditional action picture that appeals to the inner playful child with foam spraying overhead. The action is fast and furious. As a viewer, you can feel the wind in your hair, smell the sea and see the morning sun in your eyes as you work with the pilot. Good work."
The winners were selected by a panel of judges consisting of:
- Photographer Asger Ladefoged, Berlingske Tidende, Press Photographer of the Year 2017
- Transport policy spokesman Kristian Phil Lorentzen (V)
- Chairman of the Board of the Port of Aarhus and Mayor, Jacob Bundsgaard (S)
- CEO of BG Stone, Hans Christian Andersen
- Communications Advisor, Sofie Gravers Jacobsen, Danish Ports
