Smoother rules for signing on and off seafarers

April 13, 2014

New rules take into account ports' reception obligation and the possibility of emergency visas New rules for visa exemption for seafarers make it easier for seafarers to embark and disembark ships in Denmark. Danish Ports, together with the maritime organizations, have worked for more flexible rules for seafarers. Now that the Ministry of Justice has taken over the area, there are finally more flexible rules that take into account the ports' reception obligation and more flexible handling of seafarers. The rules will make it easier for shipping companies and seafarers to change crews in Denmark. It is therefore also a simplification of rules that makes it more attractive to call at Danish ports.
