Sampling method and frequency of sulfur in marine fuel

The consultation is an implementation of the EU Directive on sulphur content in marine fuel as far as control is concerned At the end of October 2014, the Danish Maritime Authority conducted a consultation on the draft executive order on port state control of ships. This consultation has been sent to the Ministry of the Environment and deals with sampling method, frequency and reporting. Danish Ports' consultation response is in accordance with previous consultation responses on the Executive Order on Port State Control of Ships. Danish Ports has a comment in relation to "frequency of inspection and sampling". In general, Danish Ports finds that there is a need for coordination and "best practice" in the port state control area so that the level of control is uniform, whether the ship calls at a Danish port or another port in our neighboring countries. The aim is to ensure that inspection does not become a competitive parameter in relation to which ports the individual ships call at. The Ministry of the Environment also concludes in the framework memo that, as a consequence of the proposal, the industry must expect extra time spent on ships due to increased sampling.
