Maritime planning should take shipping routes and ports into account

April 15th, 2013

Consultation response to new directive on maritime spatial planning and integrated coastal zone management Based on a European strategy for blue growth and a Danish growth strategy for Blue Denmark, Danish Ports believes that there is a clear need - and added value - to continue working towards a common approach to marine spatial planning at EU level with an associated national strategy. In terms of a concrete solution, Danish Ports recommends guidance and development of best practices due to the wide range of EU policies covered. Guidance would be the most flexible solution in relation to national and geographical differences.
