Maritime Planning Act - Port Planning Act
Danish Ports supports a long-term Danish strategy and planning for Denmark's maritime areas. It is a very complex piece of legislation, and it is in the interest of the purpose that the framework proposal ties the 14 existing pieces of legislation together in order to exploit and create a visionary Danish action plan for activities at sea. The goal must be sustainable development, where social, environmental, economic and commercial interests are included and support the development that is otherwise desired for Danish society. The interaction between sea and land is the elementary purpose and function of ports. Both as outlined in the Port Act regarding commercial shipping of goods, vehicles, people and landings of fish, but in particular also in relation to supporting businesses, service industries, tourism and emergency response. Ports are therefore affected by all five sectors and interests:
- Offshore energy sector (oil, gas, offshore wind and decommissioning of energy grids, renovation of rigs and installations for offshore use)
- Maritime transport (freight and passengers)
- Fisheries and aquaculture
- Extraction of raw materials at sea (including sediment management)
- Preservation, protection and improvement of the environment (climate and storm protection of ports)
