Maritime Planning Act - Port Planning Act
Danish Ports supports a long-term Danish strategy and planning for Denmark's marine areas. It is very complex legislation, and it is appropriate that the framework proposal binds the 14 existing laws together to utilize and create a visionary Danish action plan for activities at sea. The goal must be a sustainable development that incorporates social, environmental, economic and business interests and supports the development that is otherwise desired for Danish society. The interaction between sea and land is the elementary purpose and function of ports. Both as outlined in the Ports Act regarding the commercial handling of goods, vehicles, people and fish landings, but in particular also in relation to ancillary businesses, service industries, tourism and emergency response. Ports are therefore affected by all five sectors and interests:
- Marine energy sector (oil, gas, offshore wind and decommissioning of energy grids, refurbishment of rigs and installations for offshore use)
- Maritime transport (goods and passengers)
- Fisheries and aquaculture
- Extraction of raw materials at sea (including sediment management)
- Preserving, protecting and improving the environment (climate and storm protection of ports)
