Relaxed requirements for passenger ships
Targeting safety requirements to the activity - relaxations for passenger ships
In a consultation, the Danish Maritime Authority proposes to put the different modes of passenger transportation on an equal footing in terms of terrorism security. It is expected that passenger ships and other ships with ISPS status, which are predominantly in domestic traffic, will be equalized with the security level and measures in, for example, trains, city and port buses, or for larger passenger ships with dedicated terminals. Danish Ports welcomes the fact that maritime security is increasingly based on common sense. It is the position of Danish Ports that the change applies to all passenger ferries in domestic traffic, and that the relaxed requirements for maritime security also apply to the ferry companies and port facilities serving the passenger ships. Fast ferries and passenger ships sailing on Route T should also be covered by the amended executive order if they predominantly operate in Danish domestic traffic.
