Criteria and methodological standards for good environmental status

October 31st, 2016

Danish Ports' consultation response to the Ministry of Environment and Food on the Commission's proposal for a decision on setting criteria and methodological standards for good environmental status as well as specifications and standard methods for monitoring and assessment, and repealing Decision 2010/477/EU. The consultation is part of the EU maritime planning (Maritime Spatial Planning Act). Danish Ports believes that there should be a particular focus on cross-border rules that take into account fair competition in the maritime industries. The new framework of criteria and standards should interact with existing environmental rules. Finally, the consequences for the industry and port investments should be clear and linked to the EU's focus on regulatory simplification and the Danish government's focus on economic and growth creation in the maritime industries.
