Comments on Banedanmark’s 2025 Network Statement – Appendix 3.5C

Danish Ports would like to express its gratitude for the opportunity to provide comments on Banedanmark’s 2025 Network Statement – Appendix 3.5.C regarding an overview of the closures and capacity restrictions known at the time of publication for the 2025 schedule year.

The Danish rail network and access to rail freight transport are of great importance to Danish ports, which serve as key infrastructure hubs for Danish imports and exports. Access to the rail network—as part of Denmark’s multimodal transportation infrastructure, in combination with road and waterways—is essential for the development of more environmentally friendly freight transport and integrated green transportation chains.

Precisely because rail freight transport offers clear environmental benefits, Danish ports are experiencing increased demand for rail access, as the business community seeks to utilize climate-neutral freight transport.

If Danish ports are to help promote greener modes of transportation, it is essential to expand rail freight capacity in the major transportation corridors surrounding the ports.

Therefore, it is important that capacity restrictions and track closures on the Danish rail network—as outlined in Banedanmark’s 2025 Network Report, Appendix 3.5C—be minimized.
