Response to the European Commission's communication on a sustainable transport investment plan (STIP)
Danske Havne would like to thank the Commission for the opportunity to comment on its
investment plan for sustainable transport. We share the ambition to accelerate
the production and use of green fuels in maritime and aviation transport.
However, in order to achieve these goals, Member States must ensure a broad and geographically balanced distribution of revenues from the EU ETS. This includes delegating funds to commercial ports, which are key hubs in the transition.
We therefore call on the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities and the Ministry of Transport
to actively work to ensure that Danish commercial ports have access to national funds
at least to the same extent as our European neighbors.
We also call for the establishment of a targeted Danish green port fund, which
will be replenished on an ongoing basis. This will support further investments in
shore power facilities (OPS), including facilities not covered by AFIR requirements, green bunkering, e-fuel infrastructure, and the conversion of terminal and port operations.
It is crucial that commercial ports are recognized as a prerequisite for building
the necessary value chains for alternative fuels – not only as users, but
as active energy hubs throughout the EU's green transport infrastructure.
