Consultation regarding the draft of a new executive order on fairway marking
Why is waterway marking not a state/municipal task On land, there is no doubt that the state/municipality should pay for light regulation and marking. So why at sea? The Danish Maritime Authority has drafted an executive order on fairway marking, which clarifies that the port must pay for marking from a safe anchorage to the port. The Danish Ports Association has calculated that the ports' expenses are approximately DKK 10 million. Expenses where it is the Danish Maritime Authority that decides where and how the marking should be done. Therefore, Danish Ports urges us to find out what the total cost of marking is. Then we need to have a discussion about whether it is not a state task just like on land. See Ports Denmark's consultation response here.
