EU consultation on the EU Transparency Register
As a trade association, Danish Ports is registered in the EU Transparency Register. This provides easier access to meetings in the EU institutions, access to expert groups, information about consultations and new initiatives, and the opportunity for the EU institutions to contact Danish Ports directly when needed. Danish Ports sees this as very positive. The European Commission is examining the impact of the current Transparency Register of organizations and self-employed persons engaged in the formulation and implementation of EU policies and its future development towards a mandatory scheme involving the European Parliament, the Council and the European Commission. The aim of the consultation is to propose improvements to the Transparency Register, a tool set up by the European Parliament and the European Commission to shed light on lobbying activities aimed at influencing EU policy-making. This public consultation has a dual purpose:
- Gather knowledge about how the current transparency register works; and
- to get input on the design of the future mandatory register system, which is part of Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker's political guidelines.
