Consultation in the Partnership for Cleaner Shipping

November 7, 2013

Guidelines for environmental incentives must be based on documentation In the Partnership for Cleaner Shipping, two consultant reports have been discussed in relation to creating environmental incentives in shipping. Reports on ships' environmental indices and reduced port charges as well as public tenders for island ferries have been prepared and will be presented at a workshop in December. Danish Ports supports the work to create incentives for better environmental management in shipping. However, it is Ports Denmark's position that ship taxes are best handled and regulated by the ports themselves. However, guidelines and clear documentation for ships' environmental performance are welcome.
