EU Fisheries Development Program 2014-2020

June 5, 2014

EU: Consultation response on future development program for fisheries, including the role of fishing ports and the possibility of grants for key infrastructure High praise to the Danish AgriFish Agency for the involvement in the process of formulating a new EMFF program 2014-2020. Danske Havne fundamentally believes that the draft development program does not take into account the central role of fishing ports in the fisheries chain and value creation. The financial framework for the program period is not stated in the consultation, which means that the prioritization of funds is unknown. Danish Ports recommends that the funding is based on experience from EFF 2007-2013 with a focus on documented value creation and thus projects worthy of support. The consultation response includes a comment about:

  • The role of fishing ports in the fisheries sector
  • Fishing port value creation
  • Intervention logic for fishing ports
  • Subsidies are not state aid
  • Fair competition
  • Administrative burdens
  • Self-regulation
