EU: State aid exemptions
On October 13, 2016, the Commission launched a public consultation on amending the general block exemption in the field of state aid, Regulation (EU) No 651 of June 17, 2014 and Regulation (EU) No 702/2014. The proposed amendments to the block exemption entail, among other things, that public aid granted to ports and airports under certain conditions must be covered by the safe harbor of the block exemption. Danish Ports has collaborated with the European Ports Association ESPO on a coordinated response. In particular, the Danish Ports Association has emphasized that the proposal should ensure: that the rules do not open up for increased state aid or speculation in loss-making investments to ensure access for public subsidies and investment in access to ports from both sea and land to ensure fair competition between modes of transport to guarantee continued opportunity for the Danish model with municipal investment guarantee Read the Danish Ports Association's consultation response For further information contact the Danish Ports Association secretariat
