EU consultation on exemptions for state aid (GBER)

May 23, 2016

This is the first of two public consultations launched by the European Commission on an amendment to the General Block Exemption Regulation (Regulation 651/2014) to include ports and airports. The aim is to simplify the application of the state aid rules, reducing administrative burdens and costs and speeding up the implementation of certain types of development projects. By including support measures for ports and airports in the General Block Exemption Regulation, Member States will no longer have to notify state aid to the Commission and wait for approval from the Commission before the project can be launched.
