EU analysis on depleted waste
The European Commission is investigating whether fishing vessels should also be included in the EU directive on port reception facilities. The Danish Ports Association does not want additional burdens and bureaucracy to be added to the fishing industry, but rather the opposite, that there should be a greater focus on the polluter pays principle, and that ports should be exempted or compensated for the task of receiving, handling and disposing of fished waste, so that state taxes on the landed waste do not have to be paid.
