DK: New Danish law on tourism
A national strategy for tourism is in demand, but the bill can be strengthened with a focus on maritime tourism The purpose of the bill is to create a stronger organization and management of public tourism promotion efforts. This will be achieved through the establishment of a national tourism forum that will coordinate and manage public tourism promotion efforts in Denmark. The national tourism forum will draw up a national strategy for Danish tourism, which will determine the overall strategic direction, including the key priorities and goals for Danish tourism. The National Tourism Forum will be tasked with coordinating public tourism promotion efforts based on the national strategy. In addition, the forum will prepare and initiate analyzes, including a major annual analysis of developments in Danish tourism. In connection with the national tourism forum, a guiding body, the Danish Tourism Advisory Board, will be established, consisting of organizations and other relevant ministries. Development efforts will be gathered under three regional development companies for tourism within coastal and nature tourism, business and meeting tourism, and metropolitan tourism. Danish Ports recommends that:
- The National Tourism Forum strategy incorporates concrete actions in relation to maritime tourism,
- Cruise tourism is covered by representation on the Danish Tourism Advisory Board by Danish Ports nominating a member,
- yacht tourism and coastal tourism are covered by the regions' development company Danish Coastal and Nature Tourism,
- a coherent and energy-efficient infrastructure is a strategic area for the National Tourism Forum and that the Danish Tourism Advisory Board can advise on improved traffic solutions, bottlenecks and opportunities.
