Danish Ports' consultation response regarding the draft executive order on the Harbour Nature Fund

May 6, 2025

Danish Ports acknowledges the opportunity to submit consultation responses to the draft executive order on the Marine Nature Fund.

Danish Ports assesses that the Marine Nature Fund is a good and useful instrument for the long-term restoration of Danish coastal waters. The coastal waters are the immediate area of Danish commercial ports, and their condition is important for some of the jobs in the ports, especially jobs related to fishing.

Danish commercial ports are therefore interested in participating in the recovery where it may be relevant.

  • Specifically, it is desired that it be made clear in the executive order (or elsewhere in the regulations on the Marine Nature Fund) that projects within and in connection with a port's comprehensive works should also be considered for projects under the Marine Nature Fund, if the potential and realizable nature improvements in connection with such projects are comparable to or exceed the effect of other project locations.
  • Furthermore, commercial ports, in partnerships with other actors, should be able to initiate applications and participate in projects in/near the coastal water areas where the port is located. Such partnerships can ensure a good coexistence between commercial use and effective nature restoration in the area.

Sincerely,
Camilla Rosenhagen
