Audible response
Danish Ports' response to the consultation on the Executive Order on Port Pool 2022
Case number: 2021-016178
Danish Ports thanks for the opportunity to submit a consultation response to the consultation of
the Executive Order on Port Pool 2022.
- Danish Ports are pleased that the Government with the Port Pool recognizes the
infrastructural significance of the shipping channels. We are particularly positive
about the pool model, as it allows flexibility in relation to
the development needs of commercial ports.
- Danish Ports points out that DKK 50 million is a modest amount considering the
necessary investment needs.
Elaborating remarks
Re 1: It is positive that the government supports the expansion of the Danish
commercial ports' infrastructure with the port pool. Access conditions are crucial when a ship has to choose
whether to dock in Denmark or in one of our neighboring countries. Therefore, it cannot be
underestimated how important it is that the port infrastructure and access roads to the port
are improved through e.g. cleaning and deepening of the shipping channels.
Re 2: The implementation of the pool only modestly improves the possibility of upgrading
port infrastructure and port access infrastructure. The Danish commercial ports are a
crank in the Danish economy, which together with the Blue Denmark has a turnover of more than
400 billion a year. At the same time, shipping is the most climate-friendly form of freight
transportation available. Therefore, we at Danish Ports would like to see the Port Pool's amount reflect
the importance of the industry to society to a greater extent, and also the desire to increase the green
transition.
