What You Should Know About Access to Public Records

On January 1, 2014, a new Freedom of Information Act went into effect. The Act extends the rules on access to public records to all companies with at least 75 percent public ownership, thereby including all publicly owned ports. Publicly owned port corporations have been able to apply for exemptions from the rules on an individual basis.  

Anyone may request access to records from the port without having to provide a reason for the request.
