What minimum information can be requested?
The notification of call must be accompanied by at least the following information, cf. the Standard Regulations § 1(2):
- Information about the ship's data, estimated time of arrival and the expected time in port.
- Information on the purpose of the call, including whether berthing is required at a secure port facility.
- All information required by the port, in accordance with the applicable regulations in force from time to time, for the administration of a secure port facility when the ship requests berthing at a secure port facility.
- Information on whether dangerous goods are on board, their nature and quantity, whether they are to be unloaded at the port, or whether dangerous goods are to be loaded at the port. Dangerous goods are goods covered by the IMDG code
- Notification of ship and cargo waste that is expected to be delivered to the port in accordance with the rules in force at any given time.
It follows from section 1(4) of the Standard Regulations that ports may also, in connection with ship calls, require the ship to present the ship's official papers and provide all relevant information about the ship, cargo and ownership. The ship may be required to deposit the ship's papers and certificates with the port during its stay.
