Who can rent a port area?

The Port Act states that the port's funds may only be used for purposes that specifically serve the interests of the port (section 9(4)). This means that it is the responsibility of the municipal council and the port board to safeguard the port's interests.

The port's areas must be used for port-related activities. If the areas cannot be leased for these activities, the port may lease the areas for other purposes. Leasing must take place on market terms.
