Danish Ports: Very positive with new green partnership on ports

Led by Minister for Enterprise Morten Bødskov, Minister for Transport Thomas Danielsen and Minister for Energy Lars Aagaard, the Danish government on Thursday established a new partnership on Danish commercial ports with a particular focus on the green transition.
The partnership is based on the government platform, which aims to attract investments to the Danish commercial ports, the Minister of Transport said at the press conference at Oceankaj at CMP on Thursday morning.
He also said in his speech to the press that Danish ports play a key role in Denmark's green transition and mentioned a wide range of core areas where ports are crucial - from receiving the ever-larger ships operating with the offshore wind turbines, to receiving more goods over quay, as maritime transport of goods is generally more climate-friendly, to ferry transportation and receiving hundreds of thousands of tourists.
Ministers pointed out that no one was better placed to identify all these needs than the very actors currently working professionally in the field, which is why a partnership is being set up.
Danish Ports is part of the partnership, and we will focus on the interests of Danish ports and the maritime nation and make constructive recommendations based on that. First and foremost, to cement that ports are "critical national infrastructure".
Good for a fast pace
We are pleased that the Partnership's recommendations are already coming this year.
The partnership will map the transition needs of Danish commercial ports in order to create the most effective framework for green transition and economic sustainability, as the Minister of Transport put it at the meeting. In addition, the partnership will make proposals on how commercial ports can attract commercial investments.
The partnership's recommendations are part of the government's future strategy for ports.
Danish Ports will have the opportunity to contribute messages to this process, and we will of course, among other things, advocate the role of commercial ports as national critical infrastructure. At the meeting, the Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs emphasized the security of supply and the need for the country and the business community to be able to secure the supplies of all kinds that come to Denmark via the ports - from food and medicine to clothing and energy.
In addition, we will of course point to the need for land, which is a highly sought-after commodity in ports from all kinds of customers, not least the growing wind industry, which is crucial to the green transition, and to the maintenance of shipping lanes as a common, national task.
