New CEO of Danske Havne Gitte Lillelund Bech has kick-started her tour of Danske Havne's members with port visits in Næstved, Guldborgsund, Esbjerg and ADP A/S The purpose is to listen and learn. What does it take for ports to develop? What does it take for customers to stay and preferably grow? When customers grow, the port grows. Where can Danish Ports as an industry organization do even more as a common voice for the 68 member ports? The member ports give their suggestions in connection with Gitte Lillelund Bech's tour of Denmark. Real cities have a harbor Real cities have a port, as the harbor manager at Næstved Port points out. But a port must also be developed and improved so that the port can serve their customers in the best possible way. Therefore, the Port of Næstved talked about better infrastructure, a more rational interpretation of the ISPS rules (there is no need to over-implement), and not least the new pilotage law and the consequences for the Port of Næstved. In the ports of Stubbekøbing and Nykøbing Falster, port manager Allan Lauritzen talked about being port manager for four ports (Nykøbing Falster, Orehoved, Stubbekøbing and Gedser Fishing Port) and the opportunities it creates to have more legs to stand on with ferries, fishing and cargo. Competitive internationally At Port Esbjerg, Port Director Ole Ingrisch focuses on the competition from abroad. How can Port Esbjerg secure a larger customer segment internationally? The pie will simply be bigger if Danish ports are competitive compared to foreign ports in Sweden, Norway and Germany. ADP A/S is also paying attention to the competitive situation internationally. The upcoming revision of the Port Act and the possibilities in the A/S organizational structure were also discussed with CEO Jens Peter Peters and Chairman of the Port Board Arne Tirsgaard. Gitte Lillelund Bech has several port visits planned. Next stop in the series is CMP A/B and the Port of Køge. See more about the port visits on Danske Havnes website. For more information.
