State aid for infrastructure and ports
Transparent and unambiguous rules on state aid for ports and infrastructure are needed to create fair competition On March 5, 2015, Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager brought together the European Commission and representatives from the Member States in a new subgroup on state aid for infrastructure. The purpose is to identify types of state aid where guidance is needed to help the recipient and the Member State. The working group will meet for the second time at the end of April 2015 and expects to approve the Commission's communication, a draft of which can be read here From the first meeting, there seems to be agreement on sector-specific interpretations of state aid and that guidance should be very pragmatic. In this regard, it is essential that the European Sea Ports Organization has a strong, common position. Danish Ports' position can be read here (English)
